I read My Sister’s Secret by Tracy Buchanan just about two weeks ago. It is about a young woman named Willow who travelled the world that her parents have visited, along the way of her journey she finds out things that she did not know about her parents while her aunt is also keeping secret to protected her.
“there are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth –not going all the way and not starting”.’ She looks at me, her dark eyes sinking into mine. ‘You have started. But will you go all the way?”
Willow’s memories of her parents are sun-drenched and full of smiles, love and laughter. But a mysterious invitation to a photographic exhibition exposes a secret that’s been buried since a tragic accident years ago.
Willow is forced to question everything she knew about Charity, her late mother, and Hope, the aunt she’s lived with since she was a child.
How was the enigmatic photographer connected to Willow’s parents? Why will Hope not break her silence?
Willow cannot move forward in her life without answers. But who can she really trust? Because no one has been telling the truth for a very long time.
It is about a twenty seven years old young woman named Willow. She traveled all the places that was on a map that her parents left behind before they both died from a tragic accident when she was only seven years old. During her journey she started to learn that there is a mystery story behind all those places and her aunt Hope kept all those secrets from her all her life.
I really enjoyed reading My Sister’s Sister, it was written really well and I also liked how each chapter stated who is telling the story, the place where the story is happening and also the timeline. Reading it made it easy to understand about what is happening.
There are some part of the chapters that are a little slow, but I still could not put the book down and it kept me up all night. I was so eager to know the big secret that Willow’s mother had kept all those years.
I would have loved to have read more about Hope, what type of a person she really is, how keeping all those secrets for so many years affected her and how she would have felt about all the things that had happened in her life. Hope is my favourite character although she is not the main character of My Sister’s Secret but I really loved the person she is. She seemed like a really nice person, taking in and raising her sister’s daughter after their death and basically sacrificing everything for the people she loves.
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.’ Winston Churchill.”
My Sister’s Secret is written really well and clear which made it easy to read. This book has definitely made me feel sad about what had happened to this family, it also has sweet romantic parts which made me smile and laugh while reading it.
I thought My Sister’s Secret was a good mystery story. I never used to be interested in this genre but I am starting to like it and enjoy reading it. I would recommend it if you are a fan of the genre. It might not end up being your favourite book but it is a good choice if you are in the mood for a mystery story to read.
